Meet Blake
Blake Fountain is an Atlanta based playwright, actor, and arts administrator whose work celebrates camp, queer joy, and the beautifully messy families we create for ourselves. Drawing inspiration from classic Hollywood, Broadway, drag, and the larger than life personalities who shaped queer culture, his plays blend razor sharp comedy with genuine heart.
His debut musical, Mamma Dearest: Here We Joan Again, premiered at Out Front Theatre Company in 2025 and has since begun licensing productions across the country. His newest musical, Liza's Christmaz with a Z: A Gay Fantasia on Holiday Themes, will receive its world premiere at Out Front Theatre Company in December 2026.
Beyond writing, Blake works in arts administration at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, where he helps support one of the nation's largest theatre education programs. Whether producing, performing, or writing, he is passionate about creating theatrical experiences that invite audiences to laugh loudly, feel deeply, and celebrate the joy of live performance.
Meet Tugboat
Tugboat the Queen is Blake's award winning drag persona, a live singing entertainer whose performances combine Broadway vocals, quick wit, and unapologetic theatricality. A fixture of Atlanta's drag scene, Tugboat is known for transforming musical theatre standards, classic pop songs, and unexpected character pieces into camp filled spectacles that balance humor with heartfelt storytelling.
In addition to performing weekly throughout Atlanta, Tugboat has appeared on stages across the country, including performances with Golden Gals Live! alongside Ginger Minj. Crowned Georgia Regional Entertainer of the Year for 2025, Tugboat continues to build a reputation for theatrical drag that is equal parts old Hollywood glamour, Broadway spectacle, and joyful absurdity.
Although Blake and Tugboat may seem like two different personalities, they are driven by the same mission: to tell stories that celebrate queer history, chosen family, and the transformative power of laughter.
